AVOW Welcome Olga Fahey to the Trustee Board

AVOW Welcomes a new Trustee

Olga Fahey

AVOW works hard to ensure that its board of trustees is made up of a collection of dynamic people from all walks of life. This ensures that, as a charity, we are able to hear different voices and respond to the changing landscape of the voluntary and community sector with confidence and pride.

One of our newest trustees is Olga Fahey, a business director and entrepreneur with extensive leadership experience. Olga has served as a director across several companies and is the co‑founder of both a consultancy firm and a travel business. Olga also operates as an independent consultant under their own brand.

Olga Fahey

Olga became a trustee of AVOW after seeking an opportunity that aligned with her values and allowed her to use her extensive skills to contribute meaningfully to the community. Olga believes in the collaborative leadership approach that AVOW seeks to champion, applying her strong listening skills, thoughtful questioning, and constructive challenge to help ensure the organisation remains resilient, effective, and future‑focused.

Olga’s passion for different perspectives, accountability and building effective relationships sit very comfortably alongside AVOW’s mission and values.

I always wanted to find something that aligned with my values where I could use my skillset to give back. It’s also an opportunity for me to develop new skillsets, help my personal and professional development, make new connections, and obviously make a difference with my contributions helping the charity achieve its goals.” – Olga Fahey

During her time at AVOW so far, Olga has enjoyed working closely with Human Resources (HR) on a key project, as well as contributing to the development and delivery of AVOW’s Business Plan for the coming years. This includes the exciting new regeneration project for TY AVOW, AVOW’s home in Wrexham.

Outside of her role as a trustee for AVOW, Olga has a deep affection for dogs and is the proud owner of a Cavapoochon. Her love of the outdoors means they particularly enjoy taking time for long walks together. She is also an enthusiastic sports fan, regularly playing tennis and more recently has taken up Padel. While Olga enjoys watching a wide range of sports, rugby union remains a firm favourite.

I am excited to play a role in the future of AVOW and in supporting the organisation’s plans to deliver meaningful outcomes for the community and surrounding areas.”- Olga Fahey

Being a trustee is an incredibly important volunteer role. You help support charities and ensure that they are true to their founding aims. Anyone can be a trustee, all you need is to be over 18, and be able to spare a few hours a month to attend a few meetings.

Being a trustee opens up a world of opportunities and training that can help you grow as a person and performs a vital service for charities.

If you would like to know more about how to volunteer as a trustee, AVOW’s volunteer centre would be happy to help. You can contact them on volunteer.centre@avow.org
