Intergenerational Week celebrates meaningful connections between generations, and Wrexham did just that. A wide range of indoor and outdoor activities and workshops were enjoyed by people of all ages, providing opportunities for individuals at different stages of life to spend time together.
These events were made possible through services working in partnership to deliver activities within communities, supported by volunteers as part of WCBC’s Ageing Well Wrexham programme.
AVOW captured volunteers from Bradley Bowling Club and WCBC Active Wrexham supporting children from a local school to take part in bowling. New skills were learned, and many conversations were shared across generations.
AVOW also attended a session at Erddig National Trust, where participants had the opportunity to learn or teach crocheting skills. Even Phil, our Media Manager, took the chance to refresh his crochet skills during the session.
The weather was kind on both occasions, allowing participants to enjoy the great outdoors and further enhance wellbeing.

- Food Waste and Recycling lesson at Coleg Cambria
Vicki Lindley Jones, Planning and Commissioning Officer and Ageing Well Wrexham Lead, welcomed the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, Rhian Bowen Davies, to Wrexham during Intergenerational Week. The Commissioner visited several of the activities and workshops taking place.
Vicki Lindley Jones thanked everyone involved in making Intergenerational Week a success, highlighting how positive it was to see younger and older people connecting and acknowledging the team effort required to bring the programme together.
