The Wrexham Community Lottery is an amazing way for people to support your good cause. People can buy tickets as a one-off, or they can sign up for a regular donation. The draw happens every week, with your supporter having a chance to win anything from extra tickets for the next draw (which increases their chance of winning the big prize), to £25 all the way up to £25,000!
For every ticket, the supporters’ chosen charity get %50 of the ticket price. With just 50 tickets sold, you could raise £1,300 for your charity – and all you have to do is to tell people about the lottery. Everything else is dealt with, so you can relax and focus on what really matters – helping the people your charity is set up to help.
From a single ticket purchase, %50 goes directly to the nominated cause, and %10 goes to the central fund, AVOW. This money is then used to help and support local charities throughout Wrexham. That means that a total of %60 of the ticket price supports local charities!
The Wrexham Community Lottery has over 60 good causes, but many of them have very few tickets. We see causes sign up, and get a flurry of tickets in the first few weeks, but then nothing – because the cause forgets to remind people that they have a lottery page.
We know that advertising the Lottery can be hard, so we at AVOW want to make this as easy as possible. We have put together a simple frame that you can use, as well as some wording that you can cut and paste – it’s even bilingual. We’ve also included instructions on how to find your page on the Wrexham Community Lottery, so you can direct people straight to where they can buy tickets that support your cause.
Finding Your Cause Page

This page is the page that you want to share with your supporters. You’ll see the URL in the top bar of your browser now has the word ‘Support’ in it, and your organisations name (or a shortened form of it). For example:

Using The Frames
AVOW have put together some simple frames for you to use on Social Media to advertise the Wrexham Community Lottery. You use them by simply downloading the frame, and opening them up in your photo editor. If your not sure which one to use, you can sign up for your free account at Canva. Note: Canva offers their full version for FREE to eligible charities.
You can find the frames by clicking on the examples below, and downloading the picture.
In Canva
- Create a new Instagram Square Post
- Upload the frames
- Find a picture that represents the work of your organisation, or your logo. Here we used a picture from our AGM.
- Put the picture onto the Instagram Square
- Put the frame onto the same picture.
- You might find the picture and frame need adjusting. Start by making the frame big enough to fit the square. We’ll fix the picture in the next step.
- Click on the picture, and choose Position. A box will appear on the left. At the top of that box, choose Layers. You should now be able to see your picture, and the frame ontop of it. You can move the layers up and down by clicking on them and dragging. You want the frame at the top, and your picture in the middle.
- Click on your picture in the Layers list. This should put some white dots and the corners. You can now adjust your picture to fit the frame by using these white dots to adjust the picture.
- Once your happy with it, download the completed picture. You can do this by clicking ‘File’ then ‘Download’. Make sure that the ‘File Type’ box that now pops up says ‘PNG’.
- Click ‘Download’.
You can now use the picture on your social media.
