Celebrating 10 years of ShopMobility Wrexham Powered by AVOW.
On Monday the 10th of November, 2025, Shopmobilty welcomed that both the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Tina Mannering and Julie Gillbanks High Sheriff of Clwyd to an informal event, they said thank you to everyone who has made the past ten years such a success.

Here’s to the next ten years of accessibility, inclusion, and independence in Wrexham.
This marks the outstanding ShopMobility Wrexham milestone of 10 years continuous service under the management of AVOW (Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham – Wrexham’s County Voluntary Council). Thanks to AVOW’s ongoing support and commitment to ensuring Wrexham City Centre remains accessible to all, ShopMobility Wrexham continues to thrive as a welcoming and essential community service at the heart of the city centre.
Since taking over the management and funding of ShopMobility Wrexham, AVOW has welcomed more than 3,900 individuals to its service and support, helping both residents and visitors to Wrexham maintain their independence and access everything Wrexham has to offer.
More than just the mobility scooters you see around the City Centre, ShopMobility provides a range of mobility aids including wheelchairs, disability pushchairs and walkers, catering for a wide variety of ages of accessibility needs.

“It’s a privilege to be invited and an opportunity to see and understand what the Shopmobility service offers. It’s so much more than a wheelchair or a mobility scooter, it’s that opportunity to talk to people who really understand the issues of access and mobility issues. It’s a warm place in the bus stop to get information, providing a vital resource for all the community” – High Sheriff of Clwyd, Julie Gillbanks.
To many of its service users, ShopMobility Wrexham is more than a convenience; it’s a lifeline that provides dignity, independence, freedom and choice. ShopMobility empowers individuals who may face barriers to move around freely, stay active, and remain connected to and involved in their community. Simple trips into the city centre, attending essential appointments and spending quality time with family, friends and loved ones are made possible and accessible by ShopMobility Wrexham. The service enables people to take part in everyday life with confidence and comfort, breaking down physical barriers, whilst helping to reduce isolation.
The service also plays a wider role in supporting community well-being. Alongside operating as a free to access year-round community Warm Space, ShopMobility Wrexham is proud to be part of both the Breastfeeding Welcome (BCHUB) and Safe Spaces schemes, offering comfort and security to anyone who many need, right in the heart of the city.
