Wrexham Area Civic Society Awards 2017

Wrexham Area Civic Society organizes an Annual Awards scheme, now a well-established annual event, for the best contributions to Wrexham County Borough’s environment. The Society is seeking nominations from its own members, the public, community councils, councillors and professionals for recently completed projects in any of the categories listed below:

New build. A project of notable architectural merit and respect for context

Architectural Conservation. Award for conservation of a building or structure of historic or architectural interest, to a high standard. Recent examples have included domestic and farm buildings, war memorials, chapel conversions

Regeneration Award. Award for regeneration or renewal of an existing building or structure. Examples might include public building or church refurbishments, or other improvements for community benefit

Landscape or environmental improvement.  Examples might include landscaping of a derelict site; creation or restoration of a public open space or playground; public art such as a sculpture or mural

Award for Sustainability. A new or refurbished building or project which demonstrates environmental sustainability well in advance of statutory requirements

The Ruth Howarth Award. An award made for a significant contribution to Wrexham’s environment or quality of life, not necessarily a building or landscape. Recent winners have included the Undegun Arts Project, Acton & Bellevue Parks and Erlas Victorian Walled Garden

Wooden Spoon Award. An occasional award made for conspicuous failure to consider fully the context of a development, or failure to appreciate that good design is an important part of the environment
