Promoting Independence Awards 2019

promoting-independence-awards-2019There’s one month left to enter the annual awards for the third sector, housing and support services in Wales.
The deadline for entries and nominations is midnight on Sunday 20 October

The awards are an opportunity for people in the sector to get recognition for their vital work over the preceding year. The winners and nominees will be used as examples throughout the following year to improve practice and raise awareness of new approaches.

The entry process this year has changed to make it easier for all organisations to get involved with the awards. Only one entry can be made per category per organisation, but you can enter as many categories as you’d like. 

There are also some new and different award categories and criteria, designed to reflect changes in policy and practice. This year’s awards are…

THE SHOWCASE AWARD FOR PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT
For people who have used services on their journey towards independence and better wellbeing.This is the most important award of the evening, recognising the potential of people to overcome barriers and transform their lives.

THE SHOWCASE AWARD FOR HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION 
Sponsored by Crisis
For an organisation or service that has successfully prevented homelessness in an especially new, effective or innovative way.

THE STRENGTHS AND SKILLS AWARD
This award recognises the work of organisations or services which focus on people’s strengths and create opportunities for people to develop their skills, self-confidence and optimism.

THE PROMOTING INCLUSION AWARD
This award recognises organisations that have made considerable efforts to promote inclusion or understand and address the issues facing marginalised groups and communities.

THE EMBEDDING PIE AWARD
This award recognises the work of organisations or services which focus on people’s strengths and create opportunities for people to develop their skills, self-confidence and optimism.

THE COMMISSIONING BEYOND BOUNDARIES AWARD
This award recognises the achievements of organisations which have worked across traditional boundaries to commission person-centred, joined-up services.

THE SUPPORTING SURVIVORS AWARD
Sponsored by Welsh Women’s Aid
For action taken by organisations whose core business it is to respond to violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

THE CO-PRODUCTION AWARD
For treating people as equals in their own care or support, and give them real influence over the service and environment around them.

THE INSPIRATIONAL COLLEAGUE AWARD
For individuals who have made a positive difference to their organisations or people’s lives.
