Mutual Aid Day
Addiction does not discriminate
‘NEITHER DOES RECOVERY’
AVOW is hosting Wrexham’s first Mutual Aid awareness/public meeting. This is a ‘No Cost’ Event and an opportunity to discover more about the large community of people in Wrexham recovering in Mutual Aid. The rapid growth of the Mutual Aid Community in the UK derives from the ‘No Cost’ approach and is a sustainable resource in our communities – Hence why Alcoholics Anonymous (for example) is approaching its 80 year Anniversary. Click here to download the event agenda – which features an eminent collection of speakers, some of which are recognised as leaders in the field of Addiction/Recovery. As you will also see from the agenda – there will be ‘Live’ Fishbowl meetings from 8pm onwards in which you can see for yourself the mechanisms of an AA/NA or SMART meeting.
In the Field of Recovery in terms of Mutual Aid – most of the groups happen outside of the normal working day i.e. EVENINGS – this is why this event starts at 4pm.
Wednesday 19th November 2014
4pm to 9.30pm
(Food – and refreshments throughout)
Mutual Aid Recovery happens ‘in the space’ between Austerity and Public Service and is flourishing due to a popular demand as a Free Sustainable Resource.
