Fundraiser for AVOW Play Team Raises over £1,000!
A group of local lads hiked a 171 mile round trip to the top of Snowdon and back to raise £1,193 for the AVOW PlayTeam!
Cez Dawson and friends came together to complete the journey and raise funds for the AVOW PlayTeam, who provide open access play schemes and street play projects for children across Wrexham County Borough.
The projects offer a variety of play provision from a collective of trained, experienced, and dedicated play workers. In street play and in The Land, Plas Madoc, children have opportunities to create their own play environments, to play with fire, to cook and to socialise with other children in the area.
Cez used to work with the playteam before he was diagnosed, and recovered from a rare type of cancer a few years ago, the walk is a testament to his character, resilience and experience. He said: ‘I used to work for AVOW as a play worker, I know how important donations and fundraisers are, and every hard-earned penny going to an amazing organisation.
‘The lads who did the walk are all hero’s. Working for AVOW was the best job I ever had, and I will continue to try and raise money every year to help.’
Everyone at AVOW have felt very grateful for the continued support of Trustees, Staff, Volunteers, and the community for our work and support.
