Difficult Decisions – WCBC Cuts
Consulting on plans to reshape Wrexham County Borough Council services to meet the financial challenge and the draft budget proposals for 2015/16
Due to cuts in funding from Central Government Wrexham Council will have around £45m less to spend over the next three years. In 2015/16 they are expecting to have to make savings of £11million (although this is yet to be decided by Welsh Government). But what does all of this actually mean?
The Council have been working hard to make themselves more efficient, reduce their buildings, offer more services online, buy better, reduce management and review back office services.
However, unfortunately doing all these things still isn’t enough to meet create the savings needed and we will still have to change, reduce or stop some services. So we have come up with some proposals for how these savings can be made. The proposals the council has made add up to £13million; but are hoping we will only need to save £11million in 2015/16.
The ‘Difficult Decisions’ booklet contains more detailed information on the process of reshaping services, and on the proposals from each department.
