After many years of fundraising and delivering a wide range of activities for all ages, the Directors of Broughton Community Partnership CiC took the tough decision to close in late 2024. Broughton Community Partnership was known for its lunch clubs and community wide events including Halloween celebrations, Christmas gatherings and Summer BBQ\u2019s and fairs. Their legacy lives on through a final gift of \u00a311,304 raised through years of hard work, now reinvested to benefit the local community.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

To ensure their remaining funds continued to benefit local people, the Directors Sandra Williams, Irene Thompson and Eva Jones invited AVOW (Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham) to support its dissolution and oversee the distribution of funds to community groups.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

The Partnership Directors were clear in their legacy: that the funds should support all members of the community and continue to provide diverse opportunities. The funds will go to support a wide variety of activities and events in Brynteg and beyond. From camping equipment to a collection of Lego sets for the popular Brynteg Library Lego Club, the money will bring new opportunities to the people of the area.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

\n\u201cWe bought new camping equipment and first aid kits. We hope to also use some of the money to sub some youngsters who <\/span>don\u2019t<\/span> have the means to experience the outdoors\u201d<\/span> – Sue Mort<\/span> representing<\/span> 1<\/span><\/em><\/span>st<\/span><\/span><\/em> Moss Scout Group said<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Similarly,<\/span> Catriona Kempster, <\/span>representing<\/span> 1<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span> Brynteg<\/span> Guides Rainbows and Brownies <\/span>said that the money will \u201copen up a lot more opportunities to the girls through travel and outdoor experiences\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Friends of Moss Valley are looking forward to using the money to enable them to re-start <\/span>activ<\/span>it<\/span>ies<\/span> that have been on pause since the COVID Pandemic. Having not been able to fundraise, they have found themselves without insurance which has <\/span>further restricted their activities and ability to fundraise. This money will enable them to get the vital insurance they need, and to restart activities throughout <\/span>the Moss<\/span> valley.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

Ian Pope of <\/span>the <\/span>Rainbow<\/span> Foundation was keenly aware of the difficulties faced by the <\/span>Brynteg<\/span> community. With their local community <\/span>agent, Claire<\/span> Partridge<\/span>, they are going to work with local people and organisations to respond directly to their needs. He <\/span>said,<\/span> \u2018We are <\/span>gathering feedback so we can be creative in finding ways to bring people together<\/span>\u201d.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

This <\/span>money has already been used by the <\/span>Brynteg<\/span> Library Lego group to <\/span>purchase<\/span> \u00a3500 pounds worth of Lego for their local <\/span>Lego<\/span> enthusiasts. They were even able to take members (who would not have been able to afford to attend otherwise) <\/span>to the National Brick Event at Wrexham University earlier in the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

The following organisations benefitted from the distribution of funds:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 1st Moss Scout Group<\/span><\/b> purchased an enhanced first aid kit, along with much-needed tents and Kelly kettles for future trips.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Friends of Moss Valley<\/span><\/b> were able to maintain existing equipment and cover volunteer insurance for the year ahead.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • The Girl Guides, Rainbows and Brownies<\/span><\/b> invested in camping equipment and, importantly, transport for their forthcoming trips.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • The Rainbow Foundation<\/span><\/b> will use its funds to provide activities and support for over-50s in the local area, with ongoing community engagement to identify key priorities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Brynteg Library\u2019s Lego Club<\/span><\/b>, a much-loved group attracting three generations of families, received new Lego sets and enjoyed a trip to the Wrexham Brick Festival earlier this summer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            • Dylanwadwyr Ifanc AVOW<\/span><\/b>, a group of young people who oversee grants for and by youth and youth projects.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t

              \u00a0<\/span><\/span>Irene and<\/span> Eva expressed<\/span><\/span> their delight that the funds are being reinvested in the community, <\/span>benefitting<\/span> people of all ages.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t
