The Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham (AVOW) welcomed the High Sheriff of Clwyd, Zoe J Henderson, for a visit to the AVOW Childcare, Play and Community Development projects taking place near the Plas Madoc Opportunities Centre (Plas Madoc, Hampden Way, Acrefair, Wrexham, LL14 3US) on Friday the 28th of October 2022. The High Sheriff, accompanied by Chief Officer Dawn Roberts-McCabe and Chair of Trustees Peter Howell, was treated to a Halloween-themed tour which highlighted the positive impact the projects are having on local communities.<\/p>\n
The tour began with Little Sunflowers Childcare (LSCC) and a trip through their inventive Halloween Trail. Sharon Evans, LSCC Manager, explained how each play area (indoors and outdoors) is carefully designed as a fun, interactive, learning environment for children aged 2 to 4 years. She also spoke about the wrap-around support offered by the LSCC team for the children\u2019s parents. Later in the afternoon, the High Sheriff explored \u2018The Land,\u2019 Wrexham\u2019s famed and much-loved \u2018junk\u2019 playground, where the children were in the midst of their annual Halloween Party.<\/p>\n
Claire Pugh, AVOW Play & Community Development Manager, said, \u201cWe were honoured to welcome the High Sheriff to \u2018The Land\u2019 and to introduce her to the children, residents, and volunteers – so that she could see the impact that The National Lottery funding is having within our community directly. We hope she wasn\u2019t too spooked by our Halloween celebrations!\u201d<\/p>\n
