UK Parliament Week 2022: AVOW Online Information Campaign Published 14/11/22

To mark UK Parliament Week 2022, AVOW will be sharing information designed to serve as a refresher, or an introduction, for some everyday political process facts which may be easily lost in the whirlwind of news and information. In this confusing time of constantly shifting politics, it can be difficult to keep up with the way things work unless you’re constantly glued to the news, and even then, it can still be a struggle!

Throughout the week, we’ll be exploring the distinction between Local Councillors and MPs and between local and general elections, the difference between voting for your Local MP and how the Prime Minister is selected, some of the critical distinctions between the political systems in Wales and the UK at large, and why your vote is important.

If you’re left scratching your head and wondering what the basic processes and procedures are supposed to be, then we hope this information will help to shine a light on the systems for local politics and national politics, and how both directly impact the way you live.

To start the week, we’d like to share this brilliant video, ‘Empower! The UK is a Democracy,’ a learning resource for the learning-disabled community, from UK Parliament Week’s official resources pack.

Please click here to view the full ‘Empower’ series of informational videos on Youtube.
