Compassionate Leadership Principles Consultation Phase 2

You may recall that in early 2020 we circulated a consultation on the draft ‘Compassionate Leadership Principles for Health and Social Care in Wales’. During our consultation period, there has been an unprecedented pandemic requiring our health and social care services in Wales to work tirelessly and compassionately to care for its communities. Many examples of compassionate leadership have been demonstrated during these difficult times, which has further highlighted the critical importance of a collective and compassionate approach to leadership.
Due to the timing of Covid-19 coinciding with the end of the previous consultation, we are offering a further period of engagement. Please find attached the draft principles (amended to reflect feedback from the first consultation), which we are consulting on until 27th September 2020. We welcome your views and responses from across the sector so would encourage you to circulate this widely within your networks.
We will be jointly collating the feedback we receive throughout early October with the aim of launching the ‘Compassionate Leadership Principles for Health and Social Care in Wales’ in Autumn 2020. Please could you review the attached document and send your responses to HEIW.Leadership.Programme@Wales.NHS.UK.
We understand these are still challenging times for the sector, so any formal or informal feedback is welcomed. Alternatively, you can contact Helen Thomas, HEIW (Helen.Thomas30@wales.nhs.uk), or Hannah Williams, Social Care Wales (Hannah.williams@socialcare.wales) to discuss further and provide verbal feedback.
