It’s one of the most challenging times ever for sport in Wales.
We are standing by you, and we’re committed to supporting Welsh sport and physical activity in any way we can. We want to Protect and Prepare what we see as the most valuable assets in our communities – the clubs and community organisations or groups that help people be active and take part in sport.
The Be Active Wales Fund will invest £4million in community and grassroots sport to help restart activity.
What’s happened so far?
Lockdown posed a serious financial risk to many community clubs in Wales due to loss of income and fixed costs that needed to be paid.
In response, we put in place the Emergency Relief Fund to provide immediate financial support and safeguard these clubs, organisations, and groups for the future. The Emergency Relief Fund has provided over £600,000 to nearly 400 clubs since applications opened in April.
The Emergency Relief Fund is no longer available for applications. However, clubs at financial risk will now be able to apply to the Be Active Wales Fund. You can find out more about the Protect element of the Fund below.
You should also note that the Be Active Wales Fund is the only current Sport Wales grant available for applications.
Our main immediate priority is to Protect and Prepare Welsh sport through the Be Active Wales Fund.
