The Wrexham Enterprise Initiative with AVOW & Neighbourhood Economics

What is The Wrexham Enterprise Initiative?

The Wrexham Enterprise Initiative is a 2-year programme delivered by AVOW and Neighbourhood Economics on behalf of the Welsh Government.

What are the Aims?

The project aims to find new ways of working in communities. They do this by promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment. In addition, the project will enable communities to respond to local needs through Social Enterprises.

In order to do this effectively, we are also working closely with other local partners who provide business support, education and training.

What Support is Available?

Through The Wrexham Enterprise Initiative programme, residents can:

  • Attend the weekly online drop-in

The Drop-in is hosted by Neighbourhood Economics and address the interests, concerns and needs of residents looking to explore business or self-employment.

One-to-one support is also available through The Wrexham Enterprise Initiative Facebook page and by using the contact details below.

  • Training opportunities

Through the project, residents can identify their own needs and training potential in partnership with local providers. The project will support individuals to meet their own needs and provide opportunities to do this.

Additional support includes:

  • Benefits and Funding
  • Work Experience
  • Marketing and Promotional assistance
  • Tax issues
  • Business Planning
  • and more…

The programme is now in its second year. Initially, the team have supported 40 new businesses and are assisting 60 people to develop their business ideas in the Wrexham area.

How do I get involved?

The PELAC programme are keen to hear from anyone interested in setting up their own business, turning their hobby into a career or looking at self-employment. , the team can help Community Groups who are interested in setting up a local business to meet local needs.

If you are able to devote time to developing your idea through lockdown please get in touch at the contact information below:
