During the coming weeks, our stretched Health and Social Care service will need support from volunteers within their community. Pressures will arise as a result of increasing demand and the risk of staff reductions due to self-isolation. The tasks which will be open to volunteers are likely to be dependent upon local requirements and in relation to the ongoing situation.
As the situation changes there will be numerous roles that you can help with. Please register your interest on the Volunteering-Wales website.
Suggested Volunteering Roles
- Drivers with own vehicle – delivering items, collecting/dropping off staff.
- Catering and cooking – cooking a meal for an elderly neighbour, or supporting health staff.
- Childminding – helping at local childcare settings, babysitting for a neighbour who works. There is a current call-out from Wrexham County Borough Council.
Wrexham Volunteer Centre is forming a pool of potential volunteers, with the intention of matching their availability and skills to the roles as they arise. These roles will be dependent upon local requirements and in relation to the current Covid19 situation as it develops. All skills and experience will be considered.
Community Action
In the meantime, there are actions you can take everyday such as supporting elderly and vulnerable family, friends and neighbours.
