In these unprecedented times, many parents will be looking for emergency childcare over the next few weeks. Childcare providers in Wrexham are affected in the same way as all other businesses by school closures and sickness / self-isolation. Childcare settings will only be able to stay open if they have the requisite number of staff.
We are asking all Third Sector employees with childcare qualifications and a current full portable DBS if you would be prepared to help out for some hours per week in local childcare settings over the next few weeks to ensure that childcare settings can remain open. If you are in a setting that is closing please consider offering your support particularly if your employer is continuing to pay you. You can of course use your skills and volunteer.
Alternatively if you have a current full portable DBS but you do not have childcare qualifications, you may also like to offer to help to keep childcare settings running. Childcare settings can use a small number of unqualified staff to maintain their child /adult ratios.
If you are able to offer your services please send the following information to the WCBC Childcare Team on firstname.lastname@example.org :
- Your name
- Your contact details
- Your childcare qualifications
- Confirmation that you have a current DBS
- When you are available – which days, mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnight?
The WCBC Childcare Team will collate this information from you and make it available to any childcare settings looking for additional staff.
It will be up to the childcare setting managers to ensure that your qualifications and DBS are both valid and to make all necessary arrangements for you to help.
Your information will be stored securely by the Childcare Team and will only be shared with childcare providers upon request.
You will be able to withdraw your offer of extra help at any time.
