Dear All (please make sure that Trustees of your organisation are aware of this event)

There is a meeting in Llandudno Junction on 6th June  (9.30am – 12.00) to discuss the consultation paper published last week by the Welsh Government covering a number of significant issues affecting the Third Sector. Please note  the web links at the foot of this message..

The Third Sector as mentioned in the document describes, voluntary and community organisations, co-operatives, charities, not for profit organisations, social enterprises and so its likely your organisation will be a part of this consultation.

The preface by the Minister spells out the intent of the exercise whilst at the same time making clear the value of the Third Sector to society . It will be down to as many organisations across Wrexham and the rest of Wales  to respond to this review and hopefully for a number of you to attend the meeting on the 6th June.

We will be holding a local briefing workshop on 20th June 10.00am – 12.00 at Ty AVOW to help understand the implications of the Review to their organisation and the support available across Wales. This Review is one of the most significant documents the Welsh Government have issued in recent years which will have a major impact on how you are funded and supported over the next few years. It is unlikely that any organisation will escape the impact of the Review and we urge every organisation – no matter how large or small, employing staff or using volunteers.

Section 3  refers to our (AVOW)  role and we hope that the submissions to the Minister  by organisations within Wrexham County  Borough will reinforce the need to sustain a local support service for the Third Sector.

It is not very often we ( the Third Sector) get the chance  to brief the Minister Huw Lewis AM at  Welsh Government on the magnificent services delivered by the Third Sector in Wrexham County Borough  and as we all know  resources (funding) are under pressure so lets make sure that the Voluntary and Community organisations, charities, cooperatives, social enterprises  are not disproportionately affected by the cuts as compared with other sectors in our society.

The first step in briefing the Minister is to attend the meeting on 6.6.13 and thereafter make a written submission.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 20th at AVOW but please don’t hesitate to contact me if you want any clarification or comments to share.

Regards
