The British Institute of Human Rights Tour 2015
BIRH’s 2015 Human Rights Tour – this year it is rather special, with different sorts of events taking place in communities across the UK in all 15 days between 2nd – 16th October to mark the 15th Anniversary of the Human Rights Act.
In particular we have a Young People’s event taking place in Swansea on Wednesday 14th October with Swansea YMCA and a community learning event in Colwyn Bay on Monday 5th October with North Wales Police Force.
Launching on the Human Rights Act anniversary – 2nd October – the Tour provides opportunities across the four corners of the UK to get involved, learn, share and be empowered about human rights. We will be sharing the often untold story of the Human Rights Act, and the protections and benefits it bring to us all. For example, how often do we hear how the Human Rights Acts can be a powerful tool to help governments thinks about the impact of new laws, or the way it helps victims of crime seek justice, or make sure disabled people are treated with dignity? These questions, and many others about what the Human Rights Act does, and what the future holds, will be answered at the Human Rights Tour.
We very much hope to welcome you and your colleagues and members at the Tour. There are a range of full-day, half-day and evening events taking place, and 4 events specifically for young people, all with locally-based partners, and all available for FREE, places can be booked by visiting the link below:
We hope to welcome you and/or your colleagues at these events, our sessions for adults include training on human rights law and space for debate and discussion, enabling organisations to engage with and be part of the conversations with everyday people on human rights.
