Rail Franchise – Welsh Government Consultation

NWBC

As you may know, the Wales & Borders rail franchise is due for renewal in 2018, and Welsh Government has opened a consultation on the area, seeking views on the franchise’s potential future direction. Although currently jointly managed by WG and the DfT, the area is due to be devolved wholly to WG in the coming months.

As one of the core elements to our transport system, it is key that we input directly on this for the region.

With that in mind, the Business Council will be submitting a response to the consultation document in the coming weeks.

We would ask all Members, if they could review the attached consultation document / response form, and feedback any points they would like incorporated to the regional response.

Consultation Document     Response Form

If Members could send any input to us, by latest the 7th of March, this then gives time for the regional private sector response to be pulled together and submitted, ahead of the close deadline from WG.

This input forms part of our broader work on transport, currently underway. Fuller updates will be given on this, at the next Business Council meeting on the 10th March.

Any questions at all, please let us know.

Best Regards,

Ashley Rogers
