Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Construction’ Programme (Wrexham)
The Prince’s Trust Cymru are recruiting young people for ‘Get into Construction’ – a free 3 week course run in partnership with Lend Lease (North Wales Prison Site) that will be running in March. Please find the details below:
The course is aimed at Young People (aged 18-25) who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) and who are interested working in the Construction Sector, unfortunately we are unable to work with any young person who is on the work programme.
All young people must be 18+ due to health and safety restrictions, criminal convictions will be considered on an individual basis, but please note any young person who is successful in gaining an apprenticeship or employment will have to go through a DBS check. We are unable to work with any young person who has a history of alcohol or drug abuse issues as random tests are carried out.
The course will take place at the North Wales Prison Site from Monday 29th February – Friday 18th March 2016 with a Taster session on Tuesday 23rd February 2016 travel expenses will be reimbursed and lunch will be provided throughout the course.
All participants will have the opportunity to:
- Undertake CSCS Green Card training and test
- Attend work experience placements and have the opportunity to take part in Trade taster days in a variety of Construction Skills on the Wrexham Prison Site
- Find out information about careers and opportunities within construction
- Improve teamwork and communication skills, get help with their CV and interview skills and boost their confidence.
Following the course all the young people will be offered 6 months progression support in accessing further training, education or employment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to develop practical skills and build confidence, moving them closer towards the job market. Please feel free to pass on this information to colleagues or any young people you feel would be suitable for the programme.
Any referrals must be received prior to the Taster Day as all referrals will be expected to meet up with Sian Jones before the Taster Day to assess their suitability for the course.
