Information and Networking Event – Friday 24.01.17
The Families First Team of Wrexham County Borough Council would like to invite you to attend an Information and Networking event to celebrate the support provided to children and young people with disabilities and additional needs and their families in Wrexham and to help develop future provision.
The team are not anticipating that final announcements will be made by Welsh Government regarding Families First funding until March 2017. However whilst awaiting to confirm the new direction of the programme, they are holding an event which will bring together organisations and individuals who work (or who are interested in working) with children and young people aged 0-25 with disabilities and additional needs and their families, those who volunteer, the children and young people themselves, their parents / carers and any other stakeholders to consider what future provision is needed in Wrexham and how it should be provided.
The Information and Information Event will be held on Friday morning, 24th February at the Memorial Hall in Wrexham town centre and will be hosted by the Families First Team The invitation is extended to all current/ potential new service providers, other stakeholders (including commissioners, elected members and senior managers), children, young people and their families. Please note that any children attending should be supervised at all times either by their parents/carers or staff accompanying them.
The morning event will include;
- A market place – so please let us know if you would like to showcase your service.
- ‘Speed Presentations’- so please let us know if you would be prepared to use the microphone and describe what your organisation does for disabled children and their families in Wrexham, in 2 minutes or less!
- ‘Speed Celebrations’ – so please ask children / young people / parents / carers if they will use the microphone and tell everyone what they get most out of your service, in 2 minutes or less!
- Consultation on current provision, any gaps, changes needed and new ideas for future provision – so if you can, talk to people in your service about these beforehand and come prepared to represent their views as well as your own.
As the event will be held during half term, they hope local children/young people with disabilities and additional needs and their parents / carers who are interested in attending, will come and join in, find out more about what support is available to them in Wrexham and voice their views and opinions.
So please let the people who use your service know about this event and encourage them to come along!
