Dementia Friendly Churches reception
The Diocese of St Asaph has played a lead role in improving the understanding of Dementia by working towards making our churches more dementia friendly and training individuals in the way to work with people suffering dementia. Churches are well-placed to play a significant role in the development of communities as they often include people of an age-range most likely to be at risk of developing dementia.
I am inviting you to attend a reception and event in St Asaph Cathedral on Friday 21st July which will be an opportunity to explore the church’s progress in making our communities more aware of the needs of those who deal with dementia on a daily basis. The programme will highlight the work which has already begun and what lies ahead, as well as hearing first-hand what it’s like living with dementia. Please bring with you anyone who you think would like to hear about this project.
** For those of you who attended the launch event in Llangollen earlier in the year, the July event is an opportunity for you to be updated on the progress being made with this programme **
The event will run from 10.30am and a hot lunch will be provided. There will be an opportunity for you to take part in a voluntary workshop to receive dementia awareness training in the space of an hour afterwards should you wish to do so.
I very much hope to see you at this special event and I would be pleased to receive your confirmation by no later than Monday 10th July 2017. Please return your confirmation (noting any dietary requirements) to my PA, Siân Sweeting-Jones, at the postal address below or via email to Siansweetingfirstname.lastname@example.org
If you’re bringing guests, please notify Siân of this so that we can allow for catering.
