Inspire a Generation – Sports Awards 2013
In light of news that Wrexham is the most inspired town in the UK following a golden summer of sport, Wrexham County Borough Council would like to invite nominations to celebrate local talent at the prestigious Sports Awards 2012/13.
The presentation evening will take place on Thursday 21st February 2013 at Brymbo Sports and Social Complex. Nominations are encouraged from individuals, sports clubs, schools and volunteers to ensure that the outstanding work and athletic achievement of local people is recognised by the whole community.
The annual event is organised by Wrexham Council’s Sports Development team and aims to highlight the tremendous efforts of athletes, coaches and volunteers from our local communities to achieve sporting excellence in Wrexham.
The closing date for all nominations is Friday 18th January 2012. Awards will be presented in thirteen categories:
- Junior & Senior Sports Personality of the Year
- Disability Sports Personality of the Year
- Service to Sport Award
- Junior and Senior Volunteer of the Year Award
- Primary School Contribution to Sport
- Secondary School Contribution to Sport
- Sportsmanship Award
- Coach of the Year
- Club of the Year
- Team of the Year
- Unsung Hero Award
Now in its ninth year Sports Awards has been successful in raising the profile of local sporting facilities and athletes in the area. Last years winners included ‘Coach of the Year’ Paul Blackwell, Head Coach at Abbey Road Sports, Acrobatics & Tumbling Club. Paul coached his club to become the Welsh Team Champions in 2011 and has trained multiple athletes who are regularly competing at a national level across the country.

“I would really encourage people to nominate those unsung heroes from their communities for a chance of some well deserved recognition at the Wrexham Sports Awards.”
