Autism (Wales) Bill
The National Assembly for Wales has agreed that Paul Davies, AM for Preseli Pembrokeshire can introduce proposals for a new law in Wales, the Autism (Wales) Bill.
As an individual Member, Paul has until 13 July 2018 to introduce a Bill that meets the policy objectives set out in an explanatory memorandum to my proposal. His proposed law will then be scrutinised in detail by the National Assembly for Wales, before a final decision is taken on whether it should become law. If passed, the Bill would become the Autism (Wales) Act.
To help write the law, Paul Davies has launched a consultation. If you would like to have your say on what should be included in this law, you can take part in the consultation by clicking the link to the National Assembly for Wales website http://www.assembly.wales/en/bus-home/bus-legislation/proposed_members_bills/Pages/paul-davies.aspx
Learning Disability Wales was asked to write the easy read version of the consultation document and response form. They are also available on the link above. The documents are called ‘Easy Read – Consultation Document’ and ‘Easy Read – Consultation Questions’. You can read the consultation document online, and the questions will download on to your computer for you to fill out.
The deadline for consultation responses is 20 November 2017.
The National Autistic Society Cymru / Cymdeithas Genedlaethol Awtistiaeth Cymru has been campaigning to get this new law introduced in Wales.
