About Deafblind UK

Our vision – is that people who are Deafblind or have a combined sight and hearing loss should have equal rights, access and opportunities as all other citizens within society.

Mission – Deafblind UK is an organisation of and for people who are Deafblind or have a combined sight and hearing loss. We will champion the rights and interests of all people who are Deafblind or have a combined sight and hearing loss and will deliver quality services to support individuals to have autonomy and control over their lives.

About the opportunity:

Do you have 1 hour to spare each week?

Would you like top make a difference in someone’s life?

Why not become a Volunteer?

Our member is a war veteran living with his wife.

His hearing is very poor and he is unable to communicate via the telephone, but is contactable through his wife.

His mobility is ok for short distances. He is a quiet and modest man with a gentle sense of humour.

His favourite past time is making model steam trains. He used to have a home workshop where he used to do this.

He is no longer able to do this unaided but would like a Volunteer who has a similar interest that could assist him to start doing this again.

There may be model railway social clubs in the local area that he and the Volunteer could visit together.

Our member communicates with clear speech.

What will be required:

We are looking for committed, reliable and encouraging volunteers for this role. You will need to complete an application on our website, online DBS and some online training. You will need to be over the age of 18 for some roles.
