Local Champions Wanted!
Invitation to submit Expression of Interest to Become a Member of the Local Action Groups for rural Denbighshire / Flintshire / Wrexham.
- Cadwyn Clwyd is inviting expressions of interest from individuals to become members of the new Local Action Groups (LAG) for the rural areas of Denbighshire / Flintshire / Wrexham Local Authority areas.
- The LAG will be charged with the responsibility of overseeing and guiding the distribution of LEADER funds in their local area.
- LEADER is a European funded programme which forms part of the Rural Development Programme.
The acronym ‘LEADER’ derives from the French words “Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l’Économique Rurale” which means, ‘Links between the rural economy and development actions’. The idea is to enlist the energy and resources of people and bodies that could contribute to the rural development process by forming partnerships at a sub-regional level between the public, private and community sectors (examples could be a business in the rural area, trade association / chamber of commerce, tourism association, environmental group etc). The LEADER approach is associated with local empowerment through local strategy development and resource allocation. The main tool for the application of the LEADER approach to area development and involving local representatives in decision-making is the Local Action Group (LAG). The LEADER programme will focus on 5 themes listed below:
1. Adding value to local identity and natural and cultural resources
2. Facilitating pre-commercial development, business partnerships and short supply chains
3. Exploring new ways of providing non-statutory local services
4. Renewable energy at Community level
5. Exploitation of digital technology
Expressions of Interest are invited from individuals who represent local community groups. Please complete the attached form and return to Cadwyn Clwyd by email to email@example.com
