Chair of Remap – Voluntary
Volunteer Chairperson for Remap North East Wales
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the North East Wales Group of Remap, a registered charity that designs, builds and adapts special equipment for people with disabilities. This tailor-made equipment helps people with disabilities to carry out essential daily tasks without having to ask for help or it helps them to take part in leisure activities or sports that would otherwise have been difficult or impossible. Our service is delivered entirely by volunteers and is provided free of charge to our clients in Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and Conwy.
We are seeking a chairperson to lead our meetings and to be the voice of Remap in the local community. The ideal candidate will have some experience of practical work (for example, joinery, engineering or similar) or of working with people with disabilities and will be happy speaking with groups of health and social care professionals and clients. In the area we cover, there are more than 70,000 people with disabilities and we need to make sure that these people know of our service and how to seek help from us. If you feel that your background is suitable, we would be really pleased to hear from you.
The chairperson will be free to devote their time to publicising our service to potential users and recruiting further volunteers to deliver this service, although, in future years, there will be the need for fundraising activities to be organised when our current funds run low. Any relevant expenses incurred by the chairperson will be refunded.
Remap North East Wales is part of the national Remap organisation, a registered charity (registration number 1137666). Examples of Remap’s work are shown on our web pages at www.remap.org.uk .
We welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
