ABA Support Worker – Part Time
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in providing specialised support to a young man with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The support package is based upon the principles of behaviour analysis including Skinner’s analysis of verbal behaviour and, although specific qualifications for this post are not essential, a good standard of education, an ability to engage in a variety of activities, a willingness to interact and excellent communication skills are all important requirements. Knowledge and experience as well as being able to demonstrate a genuine enjoyment of working and interacting with young people with special needs would be an advantage.
Training and ongoing support will be provided and the successful applicant will be required to work within a team to provide the young person with opportunities to learn and develop self-help, leisure, social and communication skills across a variety of activities and in different settings. The position also requires an ability to keep detailed and accurate data on a daily basis and to engage in regular team meetings. Candidates must also demonstrate reliability, a willingness to develop the role and to fully engage in all training.
Although the team’s work is based in the young person’s home, the successful applicant will be required to work in the community, and be enthusiastic about introducing the young person to new activities. All team members therefore require a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicles for use during working hours.
Some parts of this young man’s support plan need to be delivered by a male and therefore we would particularly welcome interest from male applicants in order to meet the specific occupational requirements of the role. The position will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
