Homeless Collection 2014
It’s that time of year again where we collect funds, clothing and food to aid the homeless for the Winter period.
In each of the last five years there has been a tremendous response from the people and communities of Wrexham to AVOW’s (Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham) Annual Appeal for financial donations and food/ clothing and sleeping bags to enable parcels of food and clothing to be distributed to the needy and homeless of Wrexham via the SURF (Service Users Reaching Forward) project.
In addition to financial donations, which will be used to acquire goods, AVOW is asking for food donations that can easily be reheated such as ring pull food cans, pot noodles, cup-a-soups, tea, coffee and other foods like biscuits, chocolate bars, crisps, juices, sweets etc., AVOW is also collecting warm clothing such as coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, fleeces, sleeping bags and blankets.
The Appeal is open from the 1st November until the 19th December, 2014 and the collection/donation point is based at Ty Avow, 21, Egerton Street, Wrexham.
On the 28th November, 2014 Avow will be holding its sixth Annual “Sleepout” to raise funds for the Homeless Project when people from different backgrounds will be taking part and they are looking for sponsorship for this worthy cause. AVOW is grateful to Gittins McDonald Solicitors, Wrexham for their support in making available the site for the “Sleepout”.
