Wrexham area Civic Society meeting
“CORWEN – WE’VE ARRIVED!”
The next meeting of the winter season of the Wrexham Area Civic Society programme of events will take place on Thursday 18th February, 2016.
The talk is entitled “CORWEN – WE’VE ARRIVED!” The illustrated presentation will be given by Mr. GEORGE JONES, and celebrates the success of the Llangollen Railway in achieving their long cherished goal.
George Jones is well known in the Wrexham area for his enthusiasm for steam trains, with his long time connection with the Llangollen Railway. Mr. Jones proposes to give a description of the overall project, and the many obstacles overcome during the progress of the work.
The meeting will take place at Ty AVOW, 21 Egerton Street, Wrexham at 7.15 pm.
The Civic Society holds a number of talks throughout the winter season. These are open to non-members. Forthcoming talks include “Chirk – 1000 Years of History” by Graham Greasley (17 March), and “Recent Research into Holt Castle” by Steve Grenter, Heritage Services Manager WCBC, (following our AGM, on 21 April). All these meetings take place at AVOW, at 7.15pm, and last until about 9.00pm.
