Health and Social Care
Health means different things to different people, whether it is advice to keep healthy, or finding support. If you are struggling the Health Team at AVOW are up to date with all the latest local information. Contact us if you want to know more.
What we do
- Support local voluntary organisations to support local people.
- Provide ways in which local people can have their say on local services.
- We have a lobbying role to advocate more widely on behalf of members and service users to bring about changes in policy to tackle the wider determinants of health such as the environmental, social and economic factors that impact on society as a whole.
The current economic climate means there is less money available for the NHS and social services at the same time as the recession and population changes mean more demand is made on those services. This means that the voluntary sector has to try to do more and more with less money. This coupled with the recent changes in local and national government policy and local planning structures has posed challenges to the sector. It is important that there is a strong local voice for the voluntary sector through AVOW’s Health and Social Care Department.
